Why resin bound works so well in a garden
Resin bound is natural stone aggregate mixed with a clear, UV-stable polyurethane resin and trowelled onto a prepared base. For patios and paths we lay it at 15mm — the correct depth for pedestrian use — over a properly built, free-draining base.
Because every stone is fully encapsulated there are no loose chippings to track indoors, no joints for weeds to grow through, and no need for sand or pointing. Rainwater drains straight through the surface, so there are no puddles against the house and no run-off into borders.
The finish is smooth and continuous, which makes it genuinely easy to walk on — a real advantage for wheelchairs, pushchairs, walking frames and bare feet around a pool. It can be laid right up to patio doors, around trees, and into curves that block paving struggles with.
